The Barrstools are a six piece band with their roots, as the name suggests, in the small Ayrshire village of Barr. In the beginning, founding members, Dave Sherry and Quentin ‘Cutty’ Fyfe shared vocal duties while playing guitar, banjo and whistle. The band started to take shape with the melodic addition of accordionist, Stewart Robertson and the pipes and whistle of Hamish Denham. The rhythm section came to life with percussion and double bass when Kev Borland and Harry Sheddon completed the line-up. The Barrstools put a unique spin on drinking songs from across the pond and closer to home, alongside traditional tunes with a modern twist, taking inspiration from Bruce Springsteen, We Banjo 3, The Dubliners, Skerryvore and many, many more. 2019 has been an amazing year for the band after getting the chance to play alongside some amazing acts and open Burnfest in the Spring.
